Paul Thomas Anderson, director of There Will Be Blood, bring Joaquin Phoenix (back from exile), Amy Adams and the amazing Philip Seymour Hoffman in for his new outing taking a deep look into the power of cult religions, philosophy and the mind of the human being. Allegedly, this film was said to be about the religion of Scientology, but much of the cast and P.T. Anderson himself have stated otherwise. Nonetheless, we have a compelling drama here that will no doubt be littered with Oscar nominations from best actor and actress, best picture, director, writing all the way to best score. I’m excited to see what The Master will tackle as far as characters go because that seems to be the film’s ultimate focus. I’m also ready to see Phoenix, Hoffman and Adams knock their performances out of the park.
